See our resources page for more information. Early Years Foundation Stage 2 - Swindon CWP is working with Lauren Connor, Federated Headteacher of Moredon and Rodbourne Cheney schools in Swindon. We are developing SRE curriculum and materials for Early Years Foundation Stage 2. The resources will be piloted at the schools in the Spring Term and will form the basis of our early years curriculum. Post 16 Curriculum – Barking & Dagenham Post 16 pupils from secondary schools in Barking & Dagenham have been consulting with CWP about their views on SRE. Their feedback is informing our writing of curriculum and materials for a post 16 use and will be piloted in schools in the Summer Term. Blacon Village, Chester Blacon High School and a cluster of it’s feeder primaries have commissioned CWP to support them with the development of SRE. CWP trainers have been working with the schools over the Autumn and Spring term, helping with policy, curriculum and in-class training. National PSHE CPD Programme - Tower Hamlets CWP have been commissioned to lead the programme for Tower Hamlets this year and will be also providing in-class training for teachers. NHEG Conference 1 & 2 March 2010 – PSHEE in the 21st Century School Look out for the CWP stall at this year’s conference to be held in Derby. New developments for 2009 (01/09/08 - 01/06/09) Birmingham We have been commissioned again by Birmingham to provide in-class training for secondary teachers. Members of the Birmingham Healthy Schools team, who completed their training with CWP last term, are now delivering in-class training with Birmingham primary teachers using CWP teaching materials. Enfield Healthy Schools Conference CWP are running a workshop at Enfield's Healthy School's event this March. CWP are delivering in-class training for over 40 teachers in the borough this year. Cornwall Training will take place in April for Healthy Schools staff in Cornwall. CWP is supporting the team to adopt our SRE Modelling approach followed by a teacher training programme for a cluster of schools in the Clay Country district. Isle of Wight The SRE Training Co-ordinator for the Isle of Wight has invited CWP to train a group of PSHE Co-ordinators from a cluster area in order to focus on raising the profile of SRE in local schools. Training starts in March 2009. Torbay Our member of staff based in Taunton, Jo McKenzie, is leading on the programmes in the south west. CWP are delivering school based training to targeted schools in Torbay as part of their Healthy Schools Plus initiative. Leicester CWP worked with training staff from the Leicester PSHEE & Citizenship Advisory Service in February and March this year. We supported the team in providing SRE training in schools using CWP materials. As part of the core training the team observed CWP consultants in action in the classroom where they were working with local teachers. Waltham Forest CWP have been commissioned to develop an in-depth training package aimed at youth workers who have a school based brief. Selected workers are participating in core training, observations and a programme of quality assurance to support secondary schools in their area. London and around We have recently been commissioned to run new programmes of in-class training for teachers in Wandsworth, Ealing and Hillingdon as well as continuing to work in: Barnet, Barking & Dagenham, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Southwark, Thurrock, Tower Hamlets and Wandsworth Roll Out of SRE Core Curriculum for London (01/03/09 - 01/03/10) All local authorities in London have been offered half day workshops run by CWP. The purpose of the events is to demonstrate the SRE Core Curriculum to school staff, including PSHE Co-ordinators and their line managers and to encourage its use locally Border Crossing, NHEG Conference (01/03/09) Paula Power ran a well attended workshop at the conference. She showcased CWP’s method of in-class professional development as well as highlighting the SRE Core Curriculum for London. Teaching SRE with Confidence in Secondary Schools (15/02/09) Following many requests, CWP have produced a CD-ROM for Key Stage 3 and 4. The resource contains schemes of work, lesson plans and resources for years 7 to 11 which complement, and are a continuation of, our primary curriculum found in Teaching SRE with Confidence. Launch of SRE Core Curriculum for London (21/11/08 - 21/02/09) The Christopher Winter Project, commissioned by The Teenage Pregnancy National Support Team and the Government Office for London, led the development of the SRE Core Curriculum for London. The curriculum, which includes comprehensive guidance, was launched on 21st January 2009 and can be found at http://www.younglondonmatters.org/resourcecentre/18/sexandrelationshipseducationsre/. London teachers will be able to access schemes of work, lesson plans and resources on-line in order to provide a consistent programme for young people wherever they live in the capital. This reflects the Government’s intention to make PSHEE and SRE compulsory for all key stages. Let's Grow with Nisha and Joe (01/09/08) CWP Director, Paula Power, has worked closely with the fpa to produce a comic that enables teachers to gently introduce 6-7 year olds to the concepts of growth and physical change. It also helps children to develop confidence and to listen and think about feelings and relationships with friends and family. The comic is packed with activities to encourage children to find out more about themselves. Teachers can also encourage children to take it home to read and fill in with their parents/carers. NHS Health and Social Care Awards 2008 (01/07/08) Hackney & City's Teenage Pregnancy Partnership WON the 'Improving Health & Reducing Inequalities' category at the national NHS Health and Social Care Awards, held at Wembley Stadium on Tues 1st July. CWP joined the celebrations as long standing members of the winning partnership.
